Wet Cleaning

What is Wet Cleaning?

First of all, let’s set the scene and answer the question most people are thinking. What on earth is wet cleaning? Well, let us explain. Wet cleaning is a professional alternative to dry cleaning. The process is entirely solvent-free and uses specialised equipment to clean garments that have previously been “Dry Clean Only.”

In nut shell, it does everything a dry cleaning machine can do, only better for the environment, the operators and for you! It also leaves your clothes lighter, brighter and smelling lovely and fresh.

It's better for the environment

Wet cleaning eliminates the risk of PERC (the dry cleaning chemical) contaminating groundwater which means you, your families and neighbours are safer from air exposure to the solvent. Wet cleaning is also more energy-efficient than dry cleaning, resulting in a reduced carbon footprint. It may be a small change to you, but it’s a big step for our community.

It's kinder on your skin

There have been many studies into PERC (the dry cleaning chemical) and how it affects our health. PERC enters the body when breathed in with contaminated air or when consumed with contaminated food or water. It is less likely to be absorbed through skin contact but once in the body PERC can remain, stored in fat tissue. Wet Cleaning is solvent-free, soft on your skin and doesn’t leave behind that just dry cleaned smell!

It can clean a wider range of garments

The wet cleaning process enables us to clean a variety of garments that could not be dry cleaned, including leathers and suede!

Wedding and prom dresses come out really beautifully and we don’t have to be concerned about the delicate beading.

Support a local business making a difference

The Lagoon system uses highly sophisticated washers and dryers as a small business we knew from the start it was how we wanted to run our business for our customers and for our local community. We believe that the use of PERC and other dangerous chemicals are simply not needed and love sharing this safe and thorough Lagoon System, which is a Woolmark approved cleaning process with our customers.
